Injury blues and other stuff
Man why is it every Indoor season do I pick up some random injury that keeps me out for at least a week? I’m sitting on the sidelines again, trying to strengthen the knee, take some NSAIDs and rest/ice as much as I can, however the new job doesn’t help. I ran a solid 8:43.3 with mediocre training, so that’s an encouraging thought going into the outdoor season. I think I’m going to skip the rest of indoors to concentrate on a spring half-marathon. I’d really like to see what I could do with real training, since the only other half I did was the Brooklyn one with 5 days a week training and I still managed to squeeze out a 1:14 and finish 28th out of 6000 people, in New York no less. At least the running group are putting up good times and people are training hard, I’ll be back there soon just have to be patient (something that’s generally lacking in runners).
I’m pretty content with all the other aspects of my life. The web design is going well, just finished an awesome site for the Montreal running community at www.montrealendurance.com so that’s always fun. Working on finishing up the Gerts Bar website, the ARAM website (you can visit that one HERE) and finished the Golden Key McGill website (you can visit that one HERE as well). As for my other job (Physiotherapist) I’m working at the CLSC Métro in downtown Montreal. I’m doing home visits for physio in the people who’ve lost autonomy. It’s challenging because I haven’t experienced that type of clientel at home but it’s stimulating as well because you have to be very independent and dynamic as well.
So I’m writing this from the basement of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital as I’m waiting for Catherine to finish her experiment. Oh I haven’t officially announced to the blog that I’m engaged to my wonderful girlfriend Catherine so here it is. It happened on the beaches of Cuba on New Year’s Eve. It was the best way to bring in the new year in my opinion.
Alright enough rambling, I’ll try to post that video of me running from Montreal Endurance later tonight.
Keep running,
-Steve
